Official Opening of Connswater Pocket Park

The East Belfast Partnership (EBP) secured funding from the Alpha Programme to develop a Pocket Park on unused space at Connswater, on the Newtownards Road. This involved the removal and demolishing of a row of derelict properties and creating this exciting new community space. Other funding was secured by the EBP to demolish the building and clear the site. The devleopment of this project has transformed this space into a community pocket park. Feedback from residents and local groups has been encouraging with many already using and helping to maintain the site.

On Friday 27th June the Pocket Park was officially opened alongside other funders and partners.  If you haven't already seen the Pocket Park it is located on Newtownards Road adjacent to McDonalds at Connswater Shopping Centre.

At the opening, Groundwork NI held interactive activities for adults and children, which included creating bunting, which was then displayed around the park. The East Belfast Partnership also highlighted some of their other plans for improving the area, which are still available for public viewing in the park.
