TV Licensing

TV Licensing: making sure you’re correctly licensed

You need a valid TV Licence to watch or record television programmes as they are shown on TV, regardless of whether you are watching on a TV, mobile phone, PC or other device.

Ways to Pay
You can pay for your TV Licence by direct debit, by debit/credit card via the TV Licensing website, over the phone, or by putting a cheque in the post. You can request a Payment Card to spread the cost over weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments. You can pay by cash or debit/credit card at any PayPoint outlet or over the phone.

Concessions
If you (or someone in your household) are aged 75 or over, you are entitled to a free TV Licence. You still need to apply for the licence by providing TV Licensing with your date of birth and national insurance number. Once verified, the free licence will be renewed automatically and you won’t need to apply for a new one when it expires.
