The East Belfast Partnership (EBP) secured funding from the Alpha Programme to develop a Pocket Park on unused space at Connswater, on the Newtownards Road. This involved the removal and demolishing of a row of derelict properties and creating this exciting new community space. Other funding was secured by the EBP to demolish the building and clear the site. The devleopment of this project has transformed this space into a community pocket park. Feedback from residents and local groups has been encouraging with many already using and helping to maintain the site.
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has confirmed a £20m spend on new vehicles for the Belfast Rapid Transit system.
Work has now officially started on the BRT with the construction of a 520 space park-and-ride facility in Dundonald, which will link the city centre with Greater East Belfast and the Titanic Quarter and is expected to be in full operation by 2017.
